Why it's our #1

Why Bloume takes the top spot

Most wellness apps set a fixed target and measure you against it every day. Bloume was the only app we reviewed built around the fact that women's bodies are cyclical and changeable, and it has the lowest monthly price on this page.

Why generic wellness apps often fall short for women

Most calorie counters and fitness trackers were built around a single baseline: a fixed daily target that you either hit or miss. That model ignores something most women already know from experience. Energy, appetite, mood and sleep shift across the month and across the years.

An app that treats day 3 of your cycle the same as day 20, or perimenopause the same as your twenties, will often tell you that you are failing when your body is simply doing what it does.

What to look for in a women's wellness app

  • Guidance that moves with you. Targets that adjust to your cycle, sleep and stress rather than a static number.
  • Coverage of your life stage. Many apps only handle periods, or only menopause. Check it will still fit in five years.
  • Low-effort logging. If it only works when you record every meal, you are unlikely to keep it up.
  • Professional review. Health, nutrition and movement guidance should be signed off by qualified people.
  • A price you will not resent. Subscriptions range from £1.99 to £19.99 a month for broadly similar promises.

One app, or several?

It is common to end up with a period tracker, a calorie counter and a menopause app, each with its own subscription. At the prices above, a cycle tracker plus a calorie counter is around £16 a month. An all-in-one app that covers food, movement, sleep and your cycle in one place is usually cheaper and gives a more joined-up picture.

Frequently asked questions

How did we choose Bloume as our #1 pick?

Bloume scored highest across our five ranking factors, especially price and value, personalisation and life-stage coverage. At £1.99 a month it has the lowest monthly price of the eight apps we compared, and it adapts its guidance from menstruation through to menopause.

What is Aiya?

Aiya is Bloume's in-app companion. You tell her how you are feeling in your own words and she takes care of the logging, building your personal picture over time.

Do I need a wearable to use Bloume?

No. Bloume works as a standalone app. If you already use a wearable it can add richer data, but it is optional.

Do I have to track everything I eat?

Not with Bloume, which works with whatever you choose to log. Calorie counters such as MyFitnessPal and Lifesum are built around logging each meal.

Are the cheaper or free apps good enough?

Flo, Clue, Balance, Lifesum and MyFitnessPal all have free versions, and they are good at their core job. The trade-off is that each covers one area, and their paid plans cost more per month than Bloume.

Where do the prices come from?

Competitor prices are the in-app purchase prices on each app's UK App Store listing, checked on 2 October 2026. Publishers change prices and run offers, so check the current price before you subscribe.

How does CompareWellnessApps make money?

We may earn a commission when you choose an app through links on this page. This supports our research.

Scores shown on this page are CompareWellnessApps editorial ratings out of 10 and are not user reviews. App Store ratings, where shown, are quoted separately and come from the UK App Store.

Flo Premium is shown at its listed annual price because the UK App Store listing does not label a single standard monthly plan. Where a listing shows more than one annual price, the lowest is shown with "from".

Nothing on this page is medical advice. Wellness apps are not a substitute for care from your GP or another qualified healthcare professional.
